Augmented Reality
01. About Us
The ARIOS project aims to enhance sustainability and efficiency of manufacturing processes by maturing and integrating Augmented Reality (AR) technologies.
ARIOS develops intuitive AR interfaces, AI algorithms for real-time feedback and support of multiple AR devices based on a user-centric design.
Target customers include manufacturing firms seeking to optimize their processes and industries looking for innovative training solutions.

02. Challenges
ARIOS aims to address the inefficiency, inconsistency and error-proneness in manufacturing processes.
AR can reduce assembly errors and improve training efficiency creating a more intuitive and effective working environment.
Current training methods are outdated and lack real-time guidance, leading to increased production times and quality issues.
Addressing this challenge will significantly enhance productivity and quality in manufacturing operations.
03. Project Solutions
The ARIOS AR-based solution provides real-time guidance and AI-driven feedback for manufacturing process execution via:
- Multiple intuitive AR interfaces
- Multi-User Support
- Real-time monitoring of the process
Solutions are applied and validated on applications for manufacturing of composite parts, setting up of AM machines and traditional assembly processes.
Composite parts manufacturing
TRYGONS will utilize the ARIOS solution under a complex boat assembly process. More specifically, human operators are responsible for the assembly (lay-up) of composite parts, positioning and installation of cables, as well as welding operations. ARIOS will provide a human-centric solution based on Augmented Reality, where tools, such as headsets and projectors, will be used to provide to operators detailed instructions during this complex process execution. In addition, operators will be trained and facilitated by overlaying digital objects and data on the real parts for the various assembly tasks. In the end, perceptions on systems (external or embedded in the AR-based tools), as well as AI-enabled algorithms will be used for real-time quality control and process monitoring by multiple users at the same time.
Additive Manufacturing
ARIOS, under the PRIMA use-case, will contribute by enhancing the current process execution of additive manufacturing, by introducing a multi-platform AR-based experience for operator guidance. More particularly, AR tools will be used to guide the operator during the machining phases of the machine, to make the AM process simpler and more intuitive, to inform and warn the operator in a clear
and precise way about the operating procedures and to create an interactive virtual environment for off-line machine training. ARIOS solution will also provide feedback about the quality of the productions and safety of the operator.
